A curious note from a ghost... « Thread Started on Dec 10, 2005, 7:46pm »
Gabriel needed a quite place to read the note he had received today. The Hufflepuff common rooms were out of the question since there were many Hufflepuffs loitering there today, and Gabriel didn't feel like going to his room, in case any of his roomates were there.
So Gabriel wandered about looking for an empty hallway. He found a hallway and walked down it. Gabriel realized he was outside the Room of Requirement.
He leaned haphardly against the door and began reading the note delivered by owl that morning to him.

Zola, as usual, was nose deep in a book as she strolled down to the library. She prefered to go the long way, with many hidden shortcuts, than throught the main hallways. Whenever she did go on that route, she managed to run into more people than she ever would want to. With a book in one hand, up to her face, and a few others scattered in her arms, Zola made her way down a abandoned corridor.
Instinctively, Zola knew that there was a tapestry hanging on the wall to her right that covered a staircase. Shifting the books in her hands, Zola absentmindedly swung her arm out and began to grope the wall, not wanting to actually use her eyes and have to stop reading. Cold stone walls ran past her fingertips, then a doorway. Zola subconciously knew that her turn was only a few paces ahead until she ran her palms passed something unfarmilliar. A person.
Stopping in shock, Zola slowly moved her arm back to her side and somehow managed to bring her eyes up to the young man's face just to see that he was imersed in his own reading. She was speachless, entirely embarrased, she could feel that her face was turning a soft shade of pink, but yet her feet seemed to be rooted to the ground.

Gabriel sensed there was someone nearby so he carefully folded his letter and placed it into his robes. He looked up to see there was a girl standing right there. She looked a bit embarassed.
Gabriel smiled welcomingly. "Hi..." he began, breaking the silence. "The name is Gabriel Livingston," he introduced. If that didn't help take away her embarassment he didn't know what would.

Well, at least he wasn't angry, even if Zola had just basically groped him in the middle of an abandoned hallway. The tone of his voice was soft and comforting, but not in a masculine, dominating way. His demeanor and his appearance was very femenine, in a way that almost reminded her of Adonis. Already though, he seemed to be a bit less extroverted and not so obviously flamboyant. Although she couldn't manage to keep the pink away from her cheeks, Zola did relax and introduce herself to this Gabriel Livingston.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Zola Weasley. I'd offer you my hand but..." Zola glanced down at her arms full of books and chuckled. "I'm sorry about running into you."

Gabriel waved off the unnecessary apology.
"Don't worry about it," he flashed a warm and friendly grin.
"Wingardium Leviosa will help with the carrying of those books," he offered.
"I myself use it quite a bit. My mom got me into reading many books and during the summer, when I am not surfing I am wrapped up in many books." he smiled.
"Guess it comes with having a Ravenclaw for a mother," he chuckled playfully.
"I suppose you must be a Ravenclaw too, though I might be mistaken...I am a Hufflepuff."

"Why hadn't eye thought of that?" Zola more mummbled to herself than to Gabriel. her wits were good, but her common sense somtimes was a bit lacking. Lowering her armfull to the floor, Zola flicked her wand and in a matter of moments her load was peacefully levitating at her side.
"I usually forget all of the convientent things magic can do- my mother is a Muggle. And yes, I am a Ravenclaw, but my father was a Gryffindor. Although- I'm not sure why, he was the brightest in his class..."
Gabriels prior sentence final hit Zola. Surfing? This perked her interest too much to avoid the subject.
"Excuse me for being a bother, but did you say surfing? You don't hear of many people who surf in Britain."

Australia? Zola could now place the twang in his accent, although he spoke quite fluently and without a lot of glutteral slides that often went hand in hand with Australian accents. Zola should have been going through culture shock, meeting all of these foreign people. First Oione, with her lovely French speech, and not the surfing Ausie Gabriel!
Zola blushed slightly at Gabriel's question. She could barely imagine someone as introverted and controlling as herself opening up and being one with nature while surfing. She loved water and oceans, but was more of a sun tanner and jet skiier than surfer. At least with those activity she has quite a hold on the situation.
"No, I'm sorry to say I never have been surfing. It looks like a lot of fun, and I have always wanted to try, but it makes me nervous just thinking about it..."

"Afraid of falling into a major wave?" he teased. "Surfing is all about having fun and letting go, and there is a little risk. I can see why it probably makes you nervous." Gabriel winked playfully. "A daredevil like me enjoys the thrill, just kidding," he smiled. "If you ever want to give it a try I would be more than happy to show you how," he offered.
