Meeting of the Order of the Pheonix « Thread Started on Nov 9, 2005, 11:11pm »
((Member's of the OotP out of school, please report to this meeting to check in.))
Ron sat calmly at the end of a long table in the Order of the Pheonix headquarters. He had apparated from Hogsmeade only an hour before to make it to the important meeting of the lead members of the Order of the Pheonix and to catch up on what had been happening outside.
Among the people who were present was the Headmistress, sitting across from him with her fingers tightly laced and her lips pursed. She as well had not been privvy to much information since the school year had begun, so he knew she was bracing herself for the ciation of the losses.
Down the table was Hestia Jones, speaking slowly and methodically, listing off the victories, the defeats, the dead and the dying.
"Yesterday there were two raids on supposed Death Eater hideouts, three casulties but the Death Eaters were captured and put into captivity." The conversations were always like this now. What had happened, who had died, read off in a monotone voice, regular, regular, everything is going fine. It sickened Ron to hear the numbers fall from Jones's mouth, not effecting her and not effecting the other members. This was not what Dumbledore and Harry had sacrificed themselves for.
He stood, hardly bearing the humdrum drone of bored men and women anymore. "What are you people here for?" he asked, disgust lacing his voice and a coldness clouding his remaining eye. "We are in the middle of a war here. People are dying in front of us, Death Eater factions are multiplying, we haven't seen Voldemort in over six months. Why? Where is he? What is he doing? These raids, these battles, are not helping anything. Innocents are still dying, they have been for over twenty years? And they will keep dying."
Ron paused, staring into the eyes of each of the members present. He saw different reactions: indignity, awe, frightened. He didn't know what to think of them. What was the use of it all? "I expected more leadership in this group, and more passion. Have you lost everything to save yourself from the pain of loss? We must fight, and fight with everything we have to win. We cannot go on like this."

"Or we could pretend that we no longer exist and that we're all, save for a few, broken." Carrie was standing near the back of the room, looking at the floor, partially in shame, since she hadn't done much for the order, and partially in thought. She'd considered this for a while. But then again, Carrie thought, who would listen to such a young member as her? "It's true enough, but if we pretend that the order no longer exists, that we've given up, stop fighting for a while, doesn't that mean that when we DO it, it would be more of a surprise?"
