Gigi had always loved the fresh smell of books. New ink on newly printed paper. And the smell of the not so new books that may have been forgotten and covered in dust and had an unusually pleasant musty smell.
She walked into Flourish and Blotts and started to inhale the exalting fragrance of knowledge and power. The store was dimly lit with waxing candles and a few small lamps that were only lit for decoration and provided little to no light. In the front of the shop were the newer novels. "Intuitive Moon" by Rowena Trueblood was the newest fiction novel out in stores. She was a famous romance writer with a lack of talent and Gigi refused to engage in such rubbish and encourage such crassness. She walked further into the front of the store and found a interesting book titled "Mystifying Muggle Artifacts Revealed". She wasn't big on muggles, as she was pureblood, but growing up in a learning environment taught her to embrace all aspects of knowledge. She didn't own many novels on muggles and decided to try this one as she flipped through some of the crisp pages. Gigi had decided that she was going to stop looking for herself and do what she came here to do. Look for new text books for the next term. Letters were being sent out the day after next and she needed to give her text book list to the headmistress for distribution.
Of course first through fifth years required the book Standard Book of Spells Level 1-5, so that was a walk in the park. But she was more focused on her Advanced students. She wandered around aimlessly and found a few to add to her list, she paid for her books, and decided that she was going to go treat herself to some peanut butter ice cream across the way. A slight twinge developed in the center as her heart as she left the bookstore. It was her only one true love, books, and she left with regret.
